Reality Check: Not Everyone You Meet is Going to Like You

Spread the love

Like is subjective.

Not everyone is going to like you. Some may even hate you. But remember this! It’s their problem, not yours.

No matter how good, talented, famous, great, or small you are or who you are, it’s estimated that 10-35% of the people you know will not like you.

But always stay true to yourself, your beliefs, and your convictions. Use your God-given talents to the best of your ability. Be the best you can be and you will be happy.

Realize that everyone- EVERYONE, has someone who doesn’t like them. And if you don’t have enemies, then you’re doing something wrong.

If those who are exceptional, like celebrities, politicians, and athletes have people who dislike them or hate them, it should be proof that there’s nothing wrong with you.

So, feel good about yourself. Embrace everything about yourself. Appreciate the people who love you. Let love in and let yourself shine!

I really struggle with this. Logically I KNOW it doesn’t matter, especially with people I don’t even know online, but it still gets to me. Something to keep working on I guess!

Great post, Cherie! As per the on-line individuals, I always remind myself that not everyone I encounter on-line is who they portray themselves as being – shoot, that’s rarely true when we meet others in the flesh! BUT, IMHO, it is much, much worse on-line where there are BOTS and all sorts of others, who pretend to be something/someone they aren’t.
I’ll give you a couple FB example of what I mean – and this is why I turned my back on FB over a decade ago. A couple different neighbors had FB accounts: one presented himself as being very rich and a major land-owner (he was a care taker for a rich landowner) he presented himself as being Latino and married (he was blond and gay). Second example, this wanna-be presented himself as a fantastic gardener by posting photos of another neighbor’s yard (that guy was so bad he killed weeds!).

Thank you so much, Jeanne! 💖 Unfortunately, the internet allows people to portrait all kinds of fake personas! It’s sad! But it only goes to show that they don’t like themselves, even hate themselves. How sad and pathetic.

Absolutely and it doesn’t matter who you are. Even the most popular celebrity in Hollywood has plenty of people who dislike them. It can be for a ton of things including jealousy. Plus we live in a very polarized society these days. Some people will automatically hate you if you far right or far left. Some people will hate you if you are a Christian. Some people will dislike you because of a type of music you like, where you live, etc. The list goes on and on and much of it is due to pettiness. We have become a society where no one can have a differing opinion and what gets me is here in the United States, a country that claims to welcome all walks of life, we seem to have zero tolerance for anyone who disagrees with us.

You’re comment is so spot on! 💯💯💯 And this zero tolerance for difference of opinion, or differences of anything really, comes down to the overinflated senses of entitlement that infects this country and the entire world. It’s sad that intolerant people don’t even want us to coexist anymore. So, sad!

I keep on getting this message over the last week. I am reminded that I since childhood I’ve wanted affirmation from my father who had a really hard time giving me it though I knew he loved me. I’ve spent most of my life seeking that in others. Thanks for reminding me it doesn’t have to stay this way.

You’re most welcome, Adrianne! I’m sorry your father neglected to give you the love you needed. During my teen years, my Dad did the same to me. Luckily, we got close again about 5 years before he died in 2005 but I had to.walk away from him before he’d see my value again. I know how much it hurts and my heart goes out to you. 💖🌺🌷
