Whoever said “accept the things you cannot change,” got it all backwards. What we should do is change the things we cannot accept.

Excellent quote!
Thank you so much, Geoff! 🙂
I love this!
Thank you so much 😊💓
Blessings.
Much wisdom in those words!
Thank you so much, Michael. 🙂
Much welcome!
The original quote was “…accept those things that can-not be changed.” This invited the person to figure out a way to change things that they might not have thought they could. There are Natural Laws that can not be changed, but any condition can be changed, no matter what, because that is within our power.
The original Serenity Prayer was watered down for recovering addicts in Alcoholics Anonymous, so that it seemed easier to confront making those obviously needed changes. But at some point in their recovery, one needs to move up to the original version, and rise to the challenge of changing things that seem formidable at first glance.
So yes, use your creative power and do change those things you cannot accept.
Thank you so much, Navigator. I’ve heard the Serenity Prayer and it’s great for people who are getting help and just beginning to turn their lives around. And you’re right that eventually you move up and begin changing things you cannot accept. But the Serenity Prayer is a great foundation from where to start! 🙏💖💐🌹
I agree!
