Absolutely. I think that the Self-Proclaimed Lords of WP and of Big Tech have become drunk on their own power and no longer care about the customer. I’m hoping that Big Tech will be dismantled in the future because this is happening on all different platforms. It’s a power play is what it is.

Since a few weeks I see that the option to “like” a blog from my email preview pane has been removed, but the “comment” option remains. If I want to like a blog post I need to hit comment and scroll up to hit the like button. I just thought this was a new development the WP team had done.

Am I in purgatory as well?

    • cheriewhite says:

I don’t know, Tamara. I’m so sorry Automattic has disabled your like button. I do think it’s a new thing because, I got flagged in May and I’d never had this happen in my 6 years of blogging.

Cherie, you are handling it a lot better than I would have. I would be screaming conspiracy and how modern technology is out to get me. Hope it gets sorted soon for both of you.

  3. Max C says:

I wouldn’t worry about it. In fairness there are a ton of bots on all the sites. Also tech sites are constantly changing so it is not a problem likely to be fixed. It is a nice luxury to like a blog but in the grand scheme it doesn’t matter. What matters is the interaction and are people reading the various blogs. You can like a blog or website and rarely or never read a thing which is more or less stacking numbers but not reading content or responding to it. I noticed that is a problem on Twitter big time. The like thing is a gesture but doesn’t ultimately matter either way.

    • cheriewhite says:

True, Max. However, I can’t even follow the blogs I like. But I can put them on my blog roll to keep up with their blogs. And that’s the closest thing to following them. 😊

  4. Peace Truth says:

Cherie I just found you again. Ignore these problem. Many happy engineers work around the world. It’s pot luck who you get 🤣 keep going until you find a real one. ” Bot like management” is not an Happy Engineer statement . Are you on org or . com ? Org is awful. .com is good.

    • cheriewhite says:

I’m on .Com. Thank you so much for this, Peace. This means more than you know. And I won’t give up. Unfortunately, the happiness Engineers work for Automattic. They get their marching orders from the top.

I feel your pain, Ana Maria. My heart goes out to you. I hate to say it and I hope like the devil I’m wrong. But I have a bad feeling that this is going to happen to more and more bloggers from here on out. 😔

    • cheriewhite says:

My heart goes out to you, Adam. It’s sad when they keep you in limbo for that long. It’s safe to say that they don’t ever intend to help you after that long. I believe that these people like to pick and choose the blogs that succeed and those that fail. However, this blog won’t fail. It might move to another platform, but it won’t fail. Thank you so much for sharing your issue of WP with us. Wishing you all the best.
