Honey yes you have to love yourself. Don’t let anyone else’s opinion of you matter. Don’t listen to anything negative or invasive anyone says and focus instead of people who will treat you well, even when ‘under fire’.

  2. Jeff says:

“Love your neighbor AS YOURSELF,” said Jesus. You can’t love your neighbor if you hate yourself. There’s a fine line between “denying” oneself, as Jesus also taught, and outright hating yourself, which He did not teach.

    Until we meet again..
    May your troubles be less
    Your blessings be more
    And nothing but happiness
    Come through your door

About six months into my recovery back in 1995, my A.A. sponsor asked me this question, “What’s the one-word definition to describe how much you Love yourself?” I shrugged and mumbled something with a blank look on my face and he said “It’s discipline”

I stood up and cussed him out while he sat there laughing. Sometimes the truth is akin to the rug being pulled out from under you, and this truth put me down with a giant comical thud. It was a small epiphany, but a significant one, nonetheless, and it was instrumental to my journey away from alcoholism. Anything that contributes to the stripping away of the ego helps to reveal our connection a more spiritual existence, especially if one is totally lost in a hedonistic lifestyle to begin with, as I was.

Wayne Dyer is one of my foundation teachers and I had the great fortune to have met him seven times over the years. I have a dozen or so of his books that were signed in person. I own all of his audio books as well and listen frequently to his wisdom. I think what he has left behind, his legacy, has more lifeforce now than his physical presence ever did. That’s saying something…
