Why Do We Wish Life Away?

Spread the love

We hold on to tomorrow instead of living in today.

Instead of living in the present, we wish for the future, for a better day.

We want to hurry up and grow up.

Hurry up and graduate.

Always wishing for a later date.

Hurry up and find that soulmate.

Hurry, hurry, hurry!

We’re too busy pushing fast-forward when we should press play and enjoy the movie.

Time is a thief and life is too brief.

Before we know it, we’re forty, fifty, then seventy-five.

Gone is the time better spent enjoying being alive.

At the end of life, we dream about the past.

Now, we only wish we could rewind.

We held onto tomorrow, only to end up wishing for yesterday.

So we’ll written! I call it the ‘illusion of time’ and try to remind myself every day to just enjoy each moment, instead of looking too far into what might be.

Every single day. I just want to rewind, sit back with a glass of wine and relive those beautiful and not so beautiful moments. Regret nothing β™₯️

  3. Kym Gordon Moore says:

“At the end of life, we dream about the past.” Society tells us to hurry up, now’s the time, get this, buy that, have this status if you want to be successful, and we end up killing ourselves by complying with society’s guidelines whether we realize it or not. cheriewhite,

‘Lance’ as a name for me is OK, I suppose.
Daddy once told me he was thinking of naming me ‘Spear’, but then went to the Thesaurus, and changed his mind.
