We hold on to tomorrow instead of living in today.
Instead of living in the present, we wish for the future, for a better day.
We want to hurry up and grow up.
Hurry up and graduate.
Always wishing for a later date.
Hurry up and find that soulmate.
Hurry, hurry, hurry!
We’re too busy pushing fast-forward when we should press play and enjoy the movie.
Time is a thief and life is too brief.
Before we know it, we’re forty, fifty, then seventy-five.
Gone is the time better spent enjoying being alive.
At the end of life, we dream about the past.
Now, we only wish we could rewind.
We held onto tomorrow, only to end up wishing for yesterday.

So we’ll written! I call it the ‘illusion of time’ and try to remind myself every day to just enjoy each moment, instead of looking too far into what might be.
Thank you so much. I had this bad habit when I was young. But now that I’m older, I try to take each day as it comes. 🤗🙂
Thank you so much, Vartika! 😊
Every single day. I just want to rewind, sit back with a glass of wine and relive those beautiful and not so beautiful moments. Regret nothing ♥️
Amen! It definitely puts a smile on your face. 😊
So true. That realization can be painful!
It sure can be!
“At the end of life, we dream about the past.” Society tells us to hurry up, now’s the time, get this, buy that, have this status if you want to be successful, and we end up killing ourselves by complying with society’s guidelines whether we realize it or not. Good thought-provoking poem Cherie! ❤️ 💛 💚 💙 💜 🧡
Thank you so much, Kym! 💖💖💖 I love your analogies! 😊❤🤗💐
Awwww, you’re so sweet Cherie. I was merely feeding off of your energy. Thank you dawlink!!! 😁😍🥳 Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day sweetie! ❤️💚💜🧡
You bet I will! 🤗💐🌈😍😘😘😘
Oh I am confident that you will! YES!!! 😁🤭😁
Kym Gordon Moore,
She has such a wonderful blog here. I am always inspired and happy to visit. I can see you concur.
Thank you so much, Lance! This means a lot! And by the way, I have a son named Lance. Awesome name! 😎😃
I love her positivity Lance! 😊 Cherie is such a delight and imbues her audience with some teachable, jaw-dropping, takeaway moments. 🥂
Thank you, Kym! This means so much, sweetie. 😊❤🤗🌈💐
You’re very welcome and I meant it sincerely Cherie dear! 😍 🤗 🥰 Enjoy the rest of your evening! 🥂
All I can say.
I am not eloquent enough to express how much I am relating to this post of yours.
I should try to though.
Thank you so much 😊
So very true. I wish all can see what you see, because I do and the present is really all we got almost certain. Thanks.
You’re most welcome ☺
‘Lance’ as a name for me is OK, I suppose.
Daddy once told me he was thinking of naming me ‘Spear’, but then went to the Thesaurus, and changed his mind.
Your post, Cherie reminded of the idiom, “grass is always greener on the other side of the fence”.
I sometimes think we geared towards wishing for a better future because we just might not be happy with our current state of affairs.
Just some thoughts in passing…lol
That’s exactly the reason, Dwain. So you guessed the right answer. 💯
Not me. I write a nostalgic fiction blog; I live in the past instead. 😛
I understand, Greg! The 90s were great! ❤❤❤
This is so well written and true!
A reflection so true in so many ways.
