To keep all my awesome and faithful readers informed, I’m thinking very seriously about going self-hosted in the beginning of next year. A decision hasn’t been made yet. I’ve been studying on it and reading about it and many bloggers have advised me to go self-hosted. Sooo, I plan to take the plunge in January 2022 and see where it takes me.
Please pray for me if I decide embark on this new journey next year. And if you’ve gone self-hosted, please feel free to tell me about your journey and what the pros and cons were for you. Although I’ve learned so much about self-hosted blogging, there are still so many questions I have left to find answers to and I’d appreciate your input so much.

I’m glad you asked, Peter. It’s a lot less expensive to be self-hosted. My husband is going through some health issues and we’ve fallen on hard times. So, rather than lose my blog altogether, I’m thinking about migrating the blog, readers and all, to a self-hosted blog. Nothing will change other than the blog will be self-hosted.

Whoa! If it means that my readers can’t find me and can’t benefit from the self-hosted blog, then I’ll keep the premium plan I have and create a separate blog from this one that’s self-hosted if I have to. I won’t let my readers down like that! I care too much about them.

Because if I can’t take my readers and followers with me, then I probably won’t make the change to self-hosted. My readers mean a lot to me.
You can invite your readers and followers but they have to initiate the change themselves. You cannot simply take your followers with you. It’s tough. If you receive other information, I’d be interested, but that has been my experience.

Cherie, I’ve changed to self hosting and I haven’t noticed much but apparently you can have more interface and do what you want. with that said it gets confusing. I still have my followers and I’m still tweaking stuff. Have you noticed a difference in my site and difficulty in finding me etc? sorry about your husband. 💖💖

Sounds like an interesting move. I was following someone who went to the self-hosted blog and I couldn’t ever comment. All my comments went into the ether and disappeared. After awhile (and several attempts to correct) I just stopped reading/commenting…
That’s not good! It sounds like her settings were screwed up! I haven’t made any definite decisions on it yet, but if I decide to go this route, I’ll definitely make sure people can comment because I love people’s comments. 🙂💖
