Sadly, as most of us already know, Dusty Hill of ZZ Top passed away just the other day. I feel as if this is the end of an era. During the last few years, many great musicians have left this world- Tom Petty, Eddie Van Halen, and now, Dusty Hill.
Like writing, music was another thing that helped me survive bullying years ago. It was one of my escapes and I don’t know what I would’ve done without either one.
So, here’s my tribute to ZZ Top and to the music I’m so blessed to have grown up listening to!
RIP Dusty Hill!
Hello Cherie That was a good track to play for Dusty Hill From ZZ Top. One of the best rock bands of our age. I loved their music and had most of it. On Eight track and cassette. The radio played them very often. Yes, we are losing some the major rock icons of our age and times. May he Rest In Peace !!
Thank you, James! I’ve always loved ZZ Top and I even have their Greatest Hits CD. The Cover is featured in the top song video in the post. “My Heads in Mississippi” is one of my favorite tracks from the CD along with Sleeping Bag, Rough Boy and few others.
my tribute to ZZ Top
What a lovely tribute!
Thank you so much, Patricia. I’m sitting here playing their greatest hits and listening to “Doubleback Again” while I blog. I always have music playing when blogging. 😀
It can be so uplifting and inspiring 🙂
Indeed it can! 💯
Fantastic band and their unique sound will be missed. <3
Amen. Hopefully, they’ll continue on with Elwood leading them.
I missed hearing this news. Always sad when we lose a musician who was part of our lives.
Amen, Leon. We’ve lived through such a great era of music! I love the sounds of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. After the millennium turned, however, music went to pot!
ZZ Top was a favorite of mine too. So many of the big names have passed in the last year – makes me feel old… I’m listening to all the albums – so glad I bought vinyl as the 8-track and cassettes have worn out and become obsolete!
That’s awesome, Valerie. Right now, I’m listening to ZZ Top on my computer as I blog! I always have music going during my blogging sessions. <3
What a sweet tribute Cherie. ZZ Top was iconic in many ways and they never changed. Dusty Hill will truly be missed. 😥
Absolutely, Kym. I’m sitting here listening to “I’m Bad I’m Nationwide” right now as I blog. I love the outro to this song as it’s long and well-played! <3
Talk about a way to start your day! 🌞 Jam on girlfriend. 🎶 I ain’t mad at ya! LOL 🤗
LOL I sure will, girl! I’ve always been a music lover! <3
You’re preaching to the choir Cherie! No doubt! 😊🥂😁
Cool! :B
Dusty’s legend will live on forever.
Absolutely it will! 😀
Not to mention David Bowie, a few years ago. Such a sad thing!
Yes it is! It seems that all the best are leaving us. 😭
There was an episode of King of the Hill where Dusty Hill was Hank’s cousin who he didn’t get along with… I always think it’s funny when they make fictional characters be supposedly related to real celebrities with the same last name.
I know right! I’m not sure but I think I might have seen that episode years ago! My memory of it’s pretty foggy though. 😄
In 2002 I remember losing it when John Entwistle, bass player of the Who, died in Las Vegas, over a month before my first Who concert at the Garden. So many emotions I experienced…anger, bitterness, shock, grief…you name it.
