Today’s Quote

“When I was around 18, I looked in the mirror and said, ‘You’re either going to love yourself or hate yourself.’ And I decided to love myself. That changed a lot of things.”

Oh, Ben, you don’t know how glad I am to hear this! I’m so honored to have helped you in your career. My last husband was a Corrections Officer with the West Tennessee State Penitentiary in Henning, TN. We got married in October of 2011 and he died from suicide just 12 days after we were married. I believe he was being bullied at work based on the stories he told me and others told me after he died.

I was crushed. I was the one who found him dead in his truck after he put a .357 in his mouth and pulled the trigger. It really sent me into a tailspin. Only God could carry me through it. And He did.

I plan to post about it at some point but can’t do it now. But I’ll know when I’m ready.

This is why I have such respect for CO’s because they don’t get the respect they’re due. I know my limits and it’s a job I couldn’t do. So, thank you, Ben, for being one of those special people who can. God bless you.

Wonderful reminder Cherie. ❤ All too often so many young people grow up to be adults who have been conditioned into thinking that they shouldn’t love themselves. There’s a difference in loving oneself, in spite of what others think and all out narcissism! 🤗💖☺

Thank you so much, Kym. Amd you’re so right. Most of us were conditioned that way and it’s sad. You have to wonder whether the people who conditioned us thought it was for our benefit or theirs.
