My senior year at Plumdale High, I signed up for four AP classes, and the counselor who did the schedules (Mrs. M) told me not to take more than three because that would be too much work. A few days later, my Spanish teacher told me I was probably good enough to skip straight from Spanish 2 to AP Spanish… I was like, Mrs. M told me I couldn’t take four AP classes, I’ll show her by taking five! And when I passed all five, I wanted to wave that grade report in their face because they said I couldn’t do it.
Granted, Mrs. M was not at all a bully. She was a big part of the reason I finished high school, she was there for me in some pretty dark times. She probably knew deep down inside that I could do it if I was committed and I worked hard, and she was just trying to save me from stressing out too much. But that’s what your quote reminded me of.
Mrs. M. sounds like an awesome teacher! I’m so glad she helped you through your toughest times. And I’m proud of you for accomplishing such an incredible feat! 🙂
